| Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company is proud to support the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters tribute. We invite our community to join us in honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.
As part of this nationwide tribute, residents, businesses, and fire departments are encouraged to “light the night” in red anytime between April 26 – May 3, 2026. This simple but powerful gesture serves as a visible reminder of the sacrifices made by our nation’s firefighters and their families.
This year’s tribute coincides with the 45th Annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, taking place May 2–3, 2026, in Emmitsburg, Maryland. During this solemn event, 204 firefighters will be officially memorialized. This includes 97 firefighters who died in the line of duty in 2025 and 107 firefighters who died in previous years.
Among those being honored this year is a local hero from Carroll County: Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department Captain Keith Phillips, who lost his life due to occupational cancer in 2021. His service, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
We encourage everyone participating to share photos of their red lights in honor of our fallen heroes. Photos can be submitted yo the hyperlink below. You can also share on social media using #nffflightthenight2026.
Together, we can stand united in remembrance, honoring the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of those who gave their lives in the line of duty. |
