The Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company Juniors proudly represented our company at the Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association (CCVESA) Spring Junior Day. This annual event brings together Junior members from across the county for a day of hands-on training, skill development, and camaraderie—highlighting the future of the fire and emergency services.

Throughout the day, our Juniors rotated through several interactive training stations designed to enhance their knowledge and abilities in a variety of emergency service disciplines. These stations included:

• EMS Skills: Participants worked through four different EMS skill stations, reinforcing patient care techniques and building confidence in medical scenarios.

• Ladder Truck Operations: Juniors gained exposure to ladder truck functions and safety considerations.

• Brush/ATV Operations: This station focused on off-road apparatus use and response to brush fire incidents.

• Forcible Entry: Juniors practiced essential techniques used to gain access during emergency situations.

In addition to the hands-on training, attendees observed several live demonstrations that showcased specialized resources and capabilities within the emergency services field. These included an auto extrication scenario—featuring participation from our second ambulance—as well as demonstrations involving therapy dogs, a Maryland Park Police helicopter, and a USAR Search K9.

This event provided a valuable opportunity for our Juniors to learn, grow, and connect with peers from across Carroll County.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company for organizing and hosting this outstanding event. We also thank the Mount Airy Auxiliary for providing food and refreshments for the Juniors and all those who supported the day’s activities.

Events like the CCVESA Spring Junior Day play a vital role in preparing the next generation of firefighters and EMS providers, and we look forward to continued participation in the years ahead. 🚒
