Just after 6:00 AM this morning, Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company and surrounding companies were alerted for a reported house fire in the 1700 block of Brodbeck Road. Chief 2, Engine 21, Truck 2, and Brush 25 responded to the scene.
EMS-101 (CCDFEMS) arrived first, followed shortly by HVFC Engine 21. Responding units reported fire showing from the dwelling on the Delta side. Because the incident occurred in a rural area without fire hydrants, a Tanker Task Force was requested to bring additional water supply to the scene. Apparatus from Carroll, Baltimore, and York Counties responded to assist with this incident.
Crews operated for several hours, and the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal responded and is conducting the cause and origin investigation.
HVFC would like to thank the Leary Firefighters Foundation, which earlier this year awarded the company SEEK thermal imagers—an invaluable tool on the fireground.
While HVFC volunteers and our DFEMS career staff were back at the station cleaning up from the incident, Rocco’s Market & Deli generously donated lunch for the crews. We sincerely appreciate their support and kindness.
