| Today, nine of our Juniors participated in the Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association’s annual Fall Junior Day.
We met before sunrise at the Carroll County Public Safety Training Center to start the day. There were Juniors from ten volunteer companies participating, totaling 84 kids. Each group rotated between four stations covering practical skills in ladders, patient assessment and spinal immobilization, ropes and rappelling, and crawling through the maze.
Then, all the Juniors and Advisors enjoyed a very nice lunch provided by Union Bridge VFC (thank you!), took some pictures and then prepared for the afternoon competitions.
The afternoon session consisted of gear drill, hose hook-up (from rolled to flowing water), and bucket brigade competitions. We are very proud to say HVFC Juniors came in 3rd in the hose hook-up competition. The difference between 1st and 3rd was 2 seconds.
We are super proud of our Juniors, and all the Juniors countywide that participated today! The future will be bright if the county continues to have successful Junior programs. Thank you to CCVESA who purchased “Junior Day” t-shirts for all Juniors, Advisors and those helping today.
A special thanks to HVFC Member Kathy Carroll for all the photos. |
