BUSY WEEK FOR HVFC
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

By Chief Troy Hipsley
November 20, 2024

This week has been busy for the Hampstead Volunteers. It began on Sunday afternoon when the HVFC, along with other units from Carroll County and Baltimore County, was alerted about a reported structure fire in Upperco. When they arrived, they found a barn built in the 1870s that had been converted into a garage on the first floor and apartments on the second floor that were well involved. Chief 2, Truck 2, and Engine-Tanker 24 (8 volunteers) operated on the scene for three hours.

Tuesday night, HVFC was alerted of a truck fire at the entrance to Jiffy Mart. Chief 2 arrived first and found a box truck with the box fully involved with fire impinging on electric lines. E21 arrived with 3 volunteers and DFEMS FADO and began extinguishing the fire. While extinguishing the fire, the power line burned through, and BG&E was requested. If you heard what sounded like fireworks last night, it was aerosol cans exploding during the fire. Units operated on the scene for two hours.
