By Carroll County Miss Fire Prevention/EMT Alyssa Ray
August 3, 2010
On Tuesday, August 3rd, Hampstead and Carroll County's Miss Fire Prevention, Alyssa Ray, assisted Lieutenant Chris Flanagan and the Sykesville Volunteer Fire Department at the Sykesville/Eldersburg community's National Night Out events held behind the Carrolltowne Mall. Alyssa, along with Debbie Gartrell of Winfield and Stacie Jaret, Winfield's Miss Fire Prevention, led groups through the Carroll County Fire Safety House and helped educate on basic fire prevention and safety techniques. It was a well-attended event, with over 100 children getting the chance to pass through the Safety House. Many other community organizations and businesses, including the Carroll County Sheriff's Office and their Mobile Command Unit, were on hand to talk to the community.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program designed to promote and heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and
send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
The Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company is a proud supporter of National Night Out.
