HVFC is requesting our community to “Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters” by illuminating your house or business in red starting today through May 5th for our fallen heroes.
From the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation:
As daylight fades into night, landmarks, homes, fire departments, and iconic buildings nationwide will glow in respect for the fallen and their families during Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters.
This nationwide lighting on the first week of May is sponsored by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF), leading up to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend on May 4-5, 2024.
During the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, 226 firefighters who died in the line of duty, 89 who died in the line of duty in 2023, and 137 firefighters who died in previous years will be honored. A bronze plaque bearing the names of the fallen will be officially added to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial.
