At approximately 2 pm HVFC Brush 25 was alerted to assist Lineboro and Manchester units with a brush fire off Grave Run Road. While enroute units arrived on scene and found a fast moving brush fire moving up a hill side being pushed by windy conditions involving approximately 1 acre. Command requested a brush taskforce and the remainder of the box assignment filled out. This request brought units from Baltimore County and York County. Chief 2 responded with Duty 2 as the Battalion Chief and once on scene provided support for Station 7's command. All units operated on scene for 3 hours to contain and extinguish the fire. The scene was left to forestry to monitor for any hotspots. The cause of the fire was a cigarette discarded by a passing motorist. During dry / windy conditions please be mindful with the disposal of cigarettes and open flame products as this could have easily spread to a nearby house.
