At approximately 11 am on 7/18/15 HVFD was alerted to assist Baltimore County units with a 10-50 PI rescue in Arcadia (43-10) at Mt. Carmel & Falls road. Truck 2 responded with 5 volunteers, followed by E23 with 2. IV435 was the first unit to arrive in the area but since the incident was reported by ONSTAR it wasn't an exact location. The incident was determined to be on Mt. Carmel road near 5th district elementary school. IV435, E494, Truck 2 arrived at the new location at the same time. Chief 2-1 established the Mt. Carmel Road command and reported a head on collision with 1 person trapped. It was determined that the vehicle involved was a hybrid (high voltage gas/electric) vehicle, so extra precautions were taken to safe the vehicle. Truck 2 stabilized the vehicle & gained access to the patient by spreading and removing the door. MSP aviation was requested but was down due to weather. The patient was removed from the vehicle with the assistance of Squad 4 and turned over to EMS. The single patient was transported priority 2 to Sinai Trauma (610) by IV435& EMS-7C. BCoPD is investigating the incident.
