The Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) has awarded the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company the BGE Emergency Response and Safety Grant. The $10,000 grant has helped us purchase two LIFEPAK® 15 Monitor/Defibrillators, one LIFEPAK® for each of our two medic units, Paramedic 28 and Paramedic 29. Our previous monitors/defibrillators, the LIFEPAK® 12 series, were over 10 years old and it was difficult maintaining them. The LIFEPAK 15 is the latest, most advanced emergency response cardiac monitor/defibrillator from Physio-Control. It is the standard in emergency care for Advanced Life Support (ALS) teams. Some of the functions of the LIFEPAK® 15 include pacing, synchronized cardioversion, defibrillation, pulse-oximetry, blood pressure monitoring, end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and echocardiogram (ECG) analysis.

For nearly 200 years, BGE has been a prominent company in Central Maryland. With a wide array of energy programs, services and resources, BGE is defining the next generation of energy management. In an effort to enhance safety, emergency preparedness and emergency response and recovery in its central Maryland service area, Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) has created the Emergency Response and Safety Grant program, specifically designed to support emergency response and safety organizations. This grant program is part of BGE’s continued commitment to supporting safety and reliability while also enhancing the communities it serves. Grant monies can be used to fund equipment, programs or services, such as smoke detectors, thermal imaging cameras, search and rescue equipment, emergency services, emergency food pantry and basic life support kits, and many others, that are critical to the safety of the communities BGE serves. The Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company along with many other public service agencies have a great working relationship with BGE on many emergency and non-emergency incidents. BGE is a great partner and asset to the fire department.

The officers and members of the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company sincerely appreciate and thank BGE for this tremendous grant. It will help us to better serve our community.
