On Wednesday evening, after a thunderstorm, stations 2 and 3, Engine 43, Baltimore County Engines 432 and 422, and Medic 28 were dispatched to the 4200 block of Hillcrest Avenue for a box alarm for a shed fire next to a dwelling. Engine 23, Truck, and Engine/Tanker 24 arrived and found a shed, approximately 15x15 feet, fully involved. The shed was not near any other structures and there were no exposure issues. The box was placed in service while Station 2 units and Baltimore County Engine 432 handled the incident. Crews used a 1-3/4 inch hand line to quickly extinguish the fire, and units completed overhaul. Neighbors and the homeowner believe the fire started after a lightning strike.
