Upon clearing from the vehicle collision on Route 30, units from Hampstead were alerted for a possible house fire in Finksburg. While en-route, Chief 9-1 advised he was a few miles out and could see a large column of smoke. Minutes later he arrived to find a two story single family home with flames showing from the basement and requested a tanker task force.

Units from Hampstead, Arcadia, and Gamber all arrived at the same time, around 4:58pm, and started interior firefighting operations. An active fire was found in the basement and had already made its way into the first floor of the residence.

After extensive work by all units on location the fire was placed under control 20 minutes later and declared out an hour later.

Units were held on scene for two hours after the fire was out to perform overhaul and assist the State Fire Marshall with his investigation.

Per the Carroll County Times:

"The Office of the State Fire Marshal said a preliminary investigation has identified the cause for a fire Friday evening at a single-family dwelling in Reisterstown. The investigation has revealed the source to likely be accidental, due to ordinary combustibles located too close to an electrical heating source."

No one was injured in the event. A good job well done by all on scene!
