(Hampstead, Maryland) - On Thursday January 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the American Red Cross Chesapeake Region Headquarters located in Baltimore, Maryland, BG&E held a press conference to announce the recipients of their 2nd Annual Emergency Responder Safety Grant.

Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company (HVFC) was selected as one of the recipients to receive $10,000.00. The proceeds from the grant will be used to replace outdated, more than twenty year old turnout gear racks in the station. The new gear racks are specifically designed to meet the current needs of storing and properly drying turnout gear to ensure readiness for emergency response. “The turnout gear rack replacement project will allow us to be better organized and allow easier access to our turnout gear”, said Fire Chief Jeff Carroll.

In late 2012, BGE launched the BGE Emergency Responder Safety Grant program, an annual program designed specifically for emergency response and safety organizations. Eligible 501 c3 organizations that provide emergency services support – either preparedness or response and recovery operations – had the opportunity to apply for a single grant up to $10,000.
