| Just after 6 AM Tuesday morning, April 17th, box alarm 2-13 was dispatched for smoke in the house. After a late response by all companies, dispatch advised the homeowner would meet us at the end of the long driveway, and that smoke conditions were worsening. Upon arrival, Engine 91 (Reese) and Engine/Tanker 24 found a rancher style home with a large amount of smoke coming from the eaves. Engine 91's crew pulled a line while 24's crew secured utilities. By this point, there was a confirmed fire in the kitchen area of the home and fire was starting to become visible from the doorway on the delta side. Engine 91 had a short crew of three so the crew from 24 split to help with the fire attack and horizontal ventilation. Although crews made a quick knock of the fire and stopped it from spreading from the kitchen area, there was extensive smoke and heat damage throughout the house. Units cleared approximately 3 hours later. |
