In the late hours of December 17 around 10:30 PM, station 2 and rescue squad 9 were alerted for a vehicle collision at Rt. 482 and the Hampstead Bypass. Medic 28, Engine/Tanker 24, and Truck 2 quickly and carefully responded on the very icy roads and located the wreck on the bypass between the Rt. 482 traffic circle and the northern traffic circle. Rescue Squad 4 responded after clearing a call in Manchester and Rescue Squad 9 was put in service. Upon arrival, personnel found 2 vehicles involved, with one entrapment. IVT 29 responded after an additional BLS medic unit was called. Personnel moved quickly and safely on the icy road to stabilize the vehicle and then extricate the patient from the car through full side removal – removing both doors and the B post. Two patients, one from each vehicle, were transported by ground to hospitals. Units cleared within an hour.
