Sunday afternoon, Hampstead was alerted for mutual aid into Baltimore County's 43 district (Arcadia) for a dwelling fire with reports of an occupant trapped inside. Engine Tanker 24 and Truck 2 quickly responded. Immediately after turning onto Main Street, a large column of black smoke was visible in the distance. Hampstead's Engine Tanker 24 was first to arrive on scene, with a single family dwelling with heavy fire showing. Chief 2 (Thompson) assumed initial command. The Engine crew quickly began attacking the fire and conducted a quick primary search for the potential victim inside. The occupant was later located safely off premises. The Truck crew conducted vertical ventilation and overhaul operations. Command was turned over to Chief 43 (Gribble). The fire was quickly extinguished and crews remained on scene for a few hours before returning to service.
